FAITH FORMATION

Welcome to St. Mary’s Faith Formation: Religious Education for Everyone

We meet Wednesday evenings, September through early May.  The evening begins with Adoration and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, then our entire campus will fill with the bustle of children’s classrooms AND men’s and women’s small groups for adults.

Our Faith Formation classes are designed for children to attend with parents, fostering a close relationship together with our Lord through learning the Catholic Faith and experiencing the Sacraments on this journey to sainthood.  We welcome all children, including those who are preparing to receive their sacraments AND those who have already received their Confirmation.  Sacramental preparation within the Archdiocese of Denver is a two year process.  Children receive First Reconciliation (typically second grade) during the first year of sacramental preparations.  First Holy Communion and Confirmation are celebrated together after completion of the second year, typically in 3rd grade. Religious formation must continue after Confirmation in order to continue to foster the newly received gifts of the Holy Spirit, and to embrace a vibrant life in Christ through prayer, knowledge and growth in faith.

Parents – the Heart of Faith Formation

Because parents are a child’s first and enduring teachers, you as parents are the teachers of your child’s faith formation. No one can take your place! It is essential to your child’s growth and development in the Catholic faith that you live the life of faith at home and in the world. The success of your child’s formation in Christ radically depends upon your parental example and involvement, both in regular Faith Formation classes and Sunday Mass attendance. Our program is focused on giving you the tools you need to live the life of faith in the home, with your children. With this in mind, we invite your family to make Faith Formation and Sunday Mass of top priority because God has great things in store for you and your children!

“The world needs saints. Even as our society becomes more distant from faith and more forgetful of God, it still hungers for joyful witnesses who have been transformed by Christ. At the same time, new generations of Catholics need grace to sustain them in a non-Christian environment. To answer these needs, I have decided to restore the Sacraments of Initiation to their original order, that is, Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. This will make available every sacramental grace the Church has to offer to children who have reached the age of reason.”   Most Rev. Samuel J. Aquila, Archbishop of Denver
