A Dynamic and Joyful Catholic Parish in the Heart of Aspen

The Catholic Church is alive and well in our beautiful mountain town and I invite you to join us.  The purpose of Saint Mary’s is to help you grow in holiness through the Sacraments of the Church and your formation in Jesus Christ.  Easy to find – we’re the tallest building on Main Street  and we’ve been here since 1882.  Our hearts and our doors are open to you!

A Message From Our New Pastor

Words cannot describe how joyful, excited, and grateful to God I am for having been asked by Archbishop Aquila to become your new pastor of St. Mary’s Church here in Aspen. I have met so many amazing people here the past week, thank you so much for the warm welcome you have given me! Your love for Jesus Christ and his Church just pours out in your faith I have witnessed, and I can’t wait to continue our journey in faith, hope, and love together as the One Body of Christ. I especially want to thank the fantastic St. Mary staff for your hard work during this quick and challenging transition, you are an incredible team! But most of all, thank you Fr. John Hilton. The many tears shed by parishioners when hearing the news of your new assignment is a true testament to the loving pastor you have been for the St. Mary family in Aspen. During this transition, you have become a genuine father and mentor for me, thank you for showing me what a true shepherd of Christ looks like. I hope to continue the amazing things God has done here through you and the wonderful people of our parish! May God bless you and the parishioners of St. Vincent de Paul Church in Denver as you lead them as their new pastor. And know that we all will be holding you up in prayer for your upcoming heart surgery.

Sincerely yours in Christ,
Fr. Darrick Leier
